Sheree Spencer finds creative balance as a Producer, Stage Director and Performing Artist with a strong passion for interdisciplinary art expression. Born in Toronto with Barbadian heritage, Sheree is currently based in New York City working with contemporary opera & music theatre producing company, Beth Morrison Projects as the 2024 Mellon Foundation Producing Fellow.
As a stage performer, notable credits include: Unknown Territory in the Piece of Mind Festival (2014), Jesus Christ Superstar at Hart House (2015), Last Night At The Paradise in the 2015 InspiraTO Festival, the 2015 Pan American Closing Ceremonies and Persephone at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival.
Recent producing credits include TD Emerging Producer of the Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival 2016, Associate Producer of Luminato Festival's 2022 Artists In Residence Program and company producer with Toronto live-music theatre company, Volcano theatre with Scott Joplin's Treemonisha and The Book of Life.
As a freelance director, Sheree’s credits include: Assistant Director for Gould’s Wall with Tapestry Opera (2022), the World Premiere of Musique 3 Femmes's contemporary opera Plaything in Berlin (Sept 2022) and its Canadian Premiere at Opera McGill (in Nov 2022), and Sanctuary & Storm with ReNaissance Opera & Vancouver Opera (Nov 2023). Sheree is ecstatic to be working on Aportia Chrpytych in the hybrid capacity of Associate Producer/Assistant Director which is produced by the Canadian Opera Company with the world premiere scheduled for June 2024 in Toronto.
